What we mean by cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your phone, tablet or computer when you visit. It lets the site recognise your device, remember choices and keep a session running while you move between pages. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, pixels and device identifiers, and we refer to all of them as cookies on this page.

Matchbook is operated by Triplebet Limited and licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (licence number 39504). Cookies help us run the exchange safely, keep your account secure and understand how the site is used. Nobody under 18 may use our services, and that applies to cookies as much as to anything else.

The cookies we set, category by category

Not every cookie does the same job. The table below groups ours by purpose, and the durations shown are typical rather than fixed, as individual cookies may be refreshed or shortened by updates.

CategoryPurposeTypical durationConsent needed?
Strictly necessaryKeeps you logged in, protects your session, balances load across servers, supports fraud prevention and age and identity checksSession, up to 12 monthsNo
FunctionalRemembers preferences such as odds format, language, layout choices and your cookie decisionUp to 12 monthsYes
AnalyticsMeasures page visits, feature use and errors so we can improve performance and fix faultsUp to 24 monthsYes
MarketingRecords which promotions or partner links brought you to us and limits how often you see the same messageUp to 13 monthsYes

Only the first category is switched on by default. Everything else waits for your say-so.

Your consent and how to take it back

When you first arrive, a banner asks whether you accept functional, analytics and marketing cookies. You can accept all, refuse all, or choose by category. Refusing is as easy as accepting, and we do not penalise you for it.

Changed your mind? You can reopen the cookie settings from the link in the site footer and alter your choices whenever you like. Withdrawing consent stops further use of those cookies from that point, though it does not undo processing that took place beforehand. Strictly necessary cookies stay active because the site cannot work securely without them.

Where cookies involve personal data, our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you hold over it.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you see, block or delete cookies. Look in the privacy or security section of your settings, where you can usually clear existing cookies, block third-party cookies, or ask to be warned before one is stored. Mobile browsers offer the same controls, often under a separate menu.

Be aware of the trade-off. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop you logging in, placing bets or completing verification. Deleting cookies will also erase your saved preferences, so you may be asked for your cookie choices again on your next visit.

Third parties and changes to this page

Some cookies come from outside organisations that supply analytics or advertising tools to us. They set and read their own cookies under their own policies, and we recommend checking those if you want the detail. We only enable them where you have agreed.

We review this page when our tools or the law change, and the latest version always sits here. Gambling should stay enjoyable; if it stops being so, our responsible gambling page lists tools and support, and GamCare offers free, confidential help on 0808 8020 133 or at https://www.gamcare.org.uk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Matchbook without accepting any optional cookies?

Yes. Strictly necessary cookies are always on because the service cannot work securely without them, but functional, analytics and marketing cookies are optional. Refuse them in the banner and you can still use the site.

How do I change my cookie choices after I have made them?

Use the cookie settings link in the site footer to reopen your preferences and change any category. You can also clear cookies in your browser, after which the banner will ask again.

Do your cookies collect personal data?

Some can, such as identifiers linked to your device or account. Where that happens, the details are covered in our Privacy Policy, including your rights to access, correct or erase your data.

Who do I contact with a question about cookies?

Email support@matchbook.com or use Live Chat. You can find further ways to reach us on our contact page.
