Advertising & Partners at Matchbook
Where we stand on advertising
We run Matchbook, and we want you to know exactly how we get in front of people. Some of our marketing is paid for. Some of it is placed by partners who send players our way. None of it is dressed up as something else.
If you arrive through a review site, a comparison page, a podcast or a social post, there may be a commercial relationship behind that link. We do not hide that, and we expect the people who promote us to be just as open about it.
Our advertising standards
Matchbook is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission (licence number 39504), and our advertising has to meet the standards that come with that licence. In practice that means a short list of firm commitments:
- Our marketing is aimed at adults only. You must be 18 or over to use Matchbook.
- We do not make claims that mislead, exaggerate or imply that gambling is a route to financial security.
- Offers are described with their conditions visible, not buried.
- We do not target people we know to be vulnerable or underage.
Gambling should be a leisure activity, never a way to solve money worries. Tools to set limits or take a break are explained on our responsible gambling page. If gambling is causing you harm, GamCare offers free, confidential support on 0808 8020 133 or at gamcare.org.uk.
Promotions never touch your odds or prices
Here is the part that matters most. A marketing partnership has no effect on the prices you see or the way markets work on Matchbook. Exchange prices come from other customers backing and laying against each other, not from a deal we have struck with anyone.
The same goes for our offers. Whether you signed up through a partner link or straight from our homepage, the markets, the commission structure and the price you are offered are identical. Our promotions, such as rebates and free bets, are described in full on the relevant pages, including their limits and expiry periods. Read those terms before you opt in.
Third-party links and partnership arrangements
Our site and promotional material may link to outside websites, and outside websites link to us. We do not control what those sites publish, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the other side of it.
Where we work with media partners, content creators or affiliates, they may be rewarded when a new customer registers or places bets. That reward is agreed between us and the partner. It is not taken from you, and it does not add a penny to what you pay.
Partners are expected to follow the same rules we follow ourselves. If a partner breaks them, we ask for the content to be corrected or removed, and we may end the relationship.
Opting out and raising a concern
You can ask us to stop sending marketing at any time, and we will act on it. How we handle your details is set out in our privacy policy.
Seen an advert or partner post that looks misleading, or one that reached someone under 18? Tell us. Our support team is reachable by live chat or at support@matchbook.com, and we will look into it properly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you pay partners who promote Matchbook?
- Some partners may be rewarded when a referred customer registers or bets. That arrangement is between us and the partner, and it costs you nothing extra.
Does signing up through a partner link change my odds or offers?
- No. Prices on the exchange are set by customers backing and laying against each other, and the same markets and terms apply however you found us.
Are your adverts meant for under-18s?
- Never. Matchbook is for adults aged 18 and over, and we do not direct marketing at minors or at people we know to be vulnerable.
What should I do if I see a misleading Matchbook advert?
- Contact our support team through live chat or at support@matchbook.com with the details, and we will investigate and, where needed, have it corrected or removed.
